HIG Premium Finance provides commercial insurance premium financing to insurance brokers and agencies: competitive terms, fast turnarounds, and a principal you can reach directly. Institutional platform, family-business service.
Everything below is standard for our agencies, not reserved for the largest accounts.
Rates, down payments, and terms set per agency and per account, never one-size-fits-all.
Quotes come back quickly, with terms laid out clearly for you and your client.
You work with an owner who can adjust terms on the spot, never a call center queue.
Invoicing, installment collection, and servicing handled end to end, with online access for your insureds.
Every account over $10,000 gets proactive calls and emails before it cancels, protecting your book, your commission, and your client relationship.
Set your own compensation on the accounts you finance, within the limits your state allows, paid monthly, at no cost to the agency.
An optional producer rewards program, complimentary education sessions, marketing materials, and our Broker Manual for your team.
Appointing your agency is free and takes one short onboarding form. We handle the setup and walk your producers through quoting.
The systems of an institutional firm and the attention of a family business, with financing available in all 50 states.
For agencies that place their commercial business with us: personal lines financing in a growing list of states, priced at or below our commercial rates. Your personal lines clients get the same terms and the same service. Tell us where you write and we'll confirm availability.
Your agency submits policy and premium details, and HIG returns finance terms promptly.
The insured reviews and signs a premium finance agreement with a defined down payment and installment schedule.
After the down payment is received, the financed premium is remitted to the carrier.
HIG administers billing and collects installments over the term, reaching out to accounts over $10,000 before any cancellation.
Rather than paying an entire commercial premium up front, the insured makes a down payment and pays the balance in equal monthly installments. Here's how a financed account is structured.
The insured pays a portion of the premium up front, typically around 20%, and coverage binds right away.
HIG pays the rest of the premium to the carrier on the insured's behalf.
The insured repays HIG in equal monthly payments over the term, usually ten, with online account access and ACH autopay.
Rates are set by amount financed across eleven tiers, from the smallest accounts to $500,000+, and step down as accounts get larger. Your agency's rate sheet has the exact rate for every tier.
| Tier | Amount financed | Preferred* |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Up to $1,000 | Standard only |
| 2 | $1,000 – $5,000 | Standard only |
| 3 | $5,000 – $10,000 | Standard only |
| 4 | $10,000 – $15,000 | Standard only |
| 5 | $15,000 – $25,000 | Standard only |
| 6 | $25,000 – $50,000 | Available |
| 7 | $50,000 – $75,000 | Available |
| 8 | $75,000 – $100,000 | Available |
| 9 | $100,000 – $250,000 | Available |
| 10 | $250,000 – $500,000 | Available |
| 11 | $500,000+ | Available |
*Preferred rates require $25,000+ financed per policy and a $150,000 minimum average financed per policy, portfolio-wide; qualification is confirmed at setup and reviewed as portfolio volume changes. Indicative rates, not a rate lock, quote, or APR disclosure. Actual rate, down payment, and installment terms are set per agency agreement and subject to underwriting.
A $126,000 commercial premium on our standard structure (20% down, 10 monthly installments):
The other $100,800 (Tier 9) is spread over 10 equal installments of $10,080 plus an even share of the finance charge. For you: a $25,200 down payment closes the sale, and your client keeps $100,800 working in the business.
*Preferred pricing is subject to qualification. Figures are rounded and are not a quote. Your rate sheet has the exact rate for every tier; actual rate, down payment, and terms are set per agency agreement and subject to underwriting.
